Celebrating International Women's Day 2025
International Women's Day has always been a cause close to our hearts. This year we caught up with our CEO, Anabel Kindersley, to find out about all the lessons she’s learnt on her journey to becoming the inspirational leader and campaigner she is today. From spearheading responsible beauty and wellbeing, to leading a coalition of 105 British businesses and organizations as part of the #StandByBees campaign, Anabel continues to drive change for causes she cares passionately about.

What’s the one most important piece of advice you’ve been given on your career journey?
Get the right people on the bus! Bring together people who align with your company’s values, share your vision, and have the core capabilities you need. Once you've got the right team, you can collectively shape the strategy and turn your vision into reality.
Your career path has taken you from a teacher, homeopath, writer and now business owner and CEO - what are the most important lessons you've learned throughout?
I believe the thread that has run through my entire life is the ability to be compassionate, kind, and caring. In every part of my career, I’ve deeply cared about the wellbeing of others, which has shaped the skillsets that I’ve valued the most. This compassion extends to nature as well, the defending and protecting of which, has become a core part of who I am.
Reflecting on these experiences, I’ve learned that truly listening to others—whether they’re a patient, reader, employee, or customer—is key. The ability to empathize, put yourself in their shoes, and respond accordingly is one of the most valuable skills I’ve developed.
You've been a pioneer in the sustainable beauty space - what do you think is the most important quality for women who want to break new ground in their industry?
Resilience is key. What sustains you through the inevitable obstacles when working in innovation isn't just determination, but a deep connection to why your work matters and staying true to your purpose.
For me, seeing how our sustainable practices inspire industry-wide change, reminds me how important our work is.

You've used your voice to stand up for bees, even being name-checked in government for doing so. What traits do you think are most important when campaigning?
Being inquisitive, to be able to truly challenge the status-quo. Being consistent, as meaningful change rarely happens overnight. Being unrelenting, meaning to continue to advocate even when progress slows or when facing resistance.
And, finally, being collaborative which has been transformative, despite not being the norm in our industry - a collective community creates a force much stronger than any individual voice.
Share with us a woman in your life who inspires you.
My mother, who is resilient and always positive and compassionate.
What's the action or decision you're most proud of as a CEO?
I’m most proud of finding the balance between meeting our company’s short-term financial needs while staying true to what really matters - we never water down our purpose, or compromise our commitment to our people and to protect nature, even when these values are typically some of the first to be sacrificed during challenging times.
