The power of organic – our summer skincare must-haves
As summer starts to make an appearance, here are three of our favorite organic ingredients for radiant skin through the summer months and beyond – with proven results.

The Power of Rosehip
What are rosehips?
Rosehips are berry-like fruits, typically fiery red and orange in color. They form after the successful pollination of the flowers commonly known as Dog Roses, and ripen in late summer.
A much-loved ingredient in skincare, rosehip oil is rich in essential fatty acids that help to moisturize and support the skin barrier. Its high concentration of A, B and E vitamins make the extract a proven, natural remedy for dull or pigmented skin.
Rich in antioxidants, rosehip oil works to restore radiance and nourish the skin’s surface, leaving your skin feeling soft, supple and ready for the summer months ahead.
Suitable for: All skin types
Recommended for: Hyperpigmentation, dry skin types
Benefits: Radiance, hydration
Where do we source it?
The rosehips used in our Wild Rose collection come from the hillsides of Svrljig in rural, south-eastern Serbia.
Our partners in Svrljig operate a family-run business, helping us to wild-harvest our rosehips alongside the 120 others that they collect from the area.

The Power of Calendula
What is calendula?
If you’re a long-term Neal’s Yard Remedies fan, you’ll know about our love for calendula. We’ve been using calendula for decades in our beauty and wellbeing products, grown within our organic gardens in Peacemarsh, Dorset.
Traditionally used for its soothing and restorative benefits, calendula supports against oxidative stress with its rich antioxidant composition. With natural skin soothing properties, this ingredient helps to reinforce your skin against warm-weather stressors.
Enjoy a breadth of natural and organic skincare made with our very own calendula essence, blended and infused across a range of our products like our Calendula Cleanser to help soothe, calm and deeply nourish the skin.
Suitable for: All skin types
Great for: Sensitive skin types, dry skin types
Benefits: Antioxidant, soothing
Where do we source it?
Harvested with zero-waste at our eco-manufacturing facility in Peacemarsh, the bright, sunshine yellow marigolds, from which we carefully extract our organic calendula, are a homegrown treasure.
Just a few steps away from our organic gardens, the marigolds are steeped in a mixture of alcohol and water before being pressed. The alcohol is used to extract the active constituents of the calendula to create a potent botanical blend and preserve its natural beauty benefits. Soil Association-approved, our calendula tincture is of the highest organic standard.
When the marigolds are pressed, the marc that remains – a cake of beautiful, pressed plant material – is added to our compost bins. After 6 to 10 months, we use the compost all around our gardens to grow more plants, and the cycle continues.

The Power of Mahonia
What is mahonia?
An evergreen shrub, mahonia roots and bark have long been used in traditional herbal medicine practices, thanks to its ability to support the body in its natural detoxification process.
Our unique mahonia tincture blend has astringent properties which help purify and tighten pores, reducing blemishes and congestion. An active addition to any skincare routine, mahonia assists in the regulation of natural oiliness, to clarify and balance the surface of the skin, leaving behind a soft, natural glow.
Suitable for: All skin types
Great for: Sensitive skin types, blemish-prone skin types, oily skin types
Benefits: regulates oiliness, cleansing, clarifying
Where do we source it?
Sourced from the Organic Herb Trading Company, our mahonia is steeped and extracted at our eco-manufacturing facility in Dorset, to harvest the unique herbal tincture. We use organic alcohol in our careful extraction, which encourages the clarifying and purifying properties of botanicals.
