Sustainably sourced

Because of its high value and demand, in the past Sandalwood has been exploited to the verge of extinction. After years of searching for a sustainable source, we’re delighted to have secured a limited, but sustainable, supply of Indian Sandalwood, which is renowned for its high quality.

Growing wild in Sri Lanka, the small tropical sandalwood trees grow up to 10-15m. For every single tree they wish to extract oil from, the growers must first obtain a government licence before they can start to cut away the small branches. Once these branches have been removed, the trunk of the tree is exposed and the hardwood can be taken away to be expertly steam distilled.

During the whole process, the growers take great care to ensure that the roots of the sandalwood tree are left intact. This ensures that the tree will eventually regrow into a new tree and help to maintain a healthy population of sandalwood trees. Then, when the tree reaches maturity, they must once again apply for a government license before the process can begin again. In addition to this, the growers also the plant new trees, helping to further prevent the extinction or exploitation of the sandalwood trees.

Best quality

This is an absolute treasure of a product. I treasure every drop - it’s like gold to me! Only Neal’s Yard preserves the pure and authentic scent of sandalwood in their essential oil (in my experience thus far with various brands of essential oils ) A gem of a product

Decanting Issues

Many need to heat the bottle up in a jug of hot water. The fragrance comes alive once warmed. It is even better breezing out of Neal's Yards own diffuser.
Yes, these oils are expensive and so is the equipment.
I have tried the competitor's that are much cheaper and they are cheap for a reason.
I have a hypersensitive nose and taste buds.
I use no more than a drop and I use a humidifier to moisten the air.
Nothing comes close to filling my whole home on both floors.
I have spent thousands on Neal's Yard Remedies for myself and my family. My cousin ran a catalogue for them and she made quite a bit of money. I did get a few freebies and gave them away.
I am still using Neal's Yard because I haven't quite exhausted the collection.
I am putting together another order.
I think like many other reviews some people are not as sensitive to certain fragrances or they have misunderstood how to get the best out of their purchases.
I have their books too which also help to glean out the most of their products.
I am self-taught in Acupressure and Aromatherapy.
Neal's Yard Remedies are not for those that are dabbling, try their competitors instead and when you're ready to take it seriously.
Break out the champagne and congratulate yourself.

Sandalwood essential oil

This is one of my favourite scents. It has anti inflammatory properties and can calm rosacea when diluted. I love to add a few drops to an infuser to calm a room. Gorgeous.
